Blacklight Hair Dye

Super awesome during the day but of course even more awesome for a night out!

These colors react to blacklight, during the day this will give you an explosive look and at night a fluorescent one! But how do you get such a look?

What is blacklight and what is the difference with Glow in the Dark?

A black light lamp is a special lamp that gives off UV-light with a high energy value. This is a part of the light-spectrum that isn’t visible to us, hence the name Black Light.

Fluorescent colors/materials absorb this UV-light and remit it immediately. In this process, part of the energy get’s lost and that’s way this light is visible to us again. The light that has been reflected, creates these awesome fluorescent colors!

With Glow in the Dark, the light will be stored for a longer period of time. This way, it will give out light even when the blacklight or UV-light is off. It’ll become visible when it’s dark.

Blacklight has an immediate effect, Glow in the Dark needs some ‘charging’ time.

You can charge Glow in the Dark products with blacklight, UV-light or body warmth. Glow in the Dark is visible when it’s light although there are some ‘invisible’ products.

Because the light first needs to be ‘stored’, Glow in the Dark hair dye is not possible. But Glows under Blacklight is!

What will light up in blacklight and what doesn’t?

Not all colors light up in blacklight. The products that do, contain fluorescent molecules that make sure that the light can be reflected. These molecules can be found in many different sorts and are in more materials than you might think. White paper, toothpaste, body fluids and even jelly-fish contain all different kinds of this sort of molecule. A white piece of paper can light up but a plastic cup that is just as white, can’t. It’s not a specific color but specific kinds of materials that light up.

What kind of Hair Dye lights up then?

Manic Panic notes on their jars which colors light up under blacklight. These contain those special fluorescent molecules.
